We are committed to preserving the health, temperament, and beauty of breed through ethical breeding practices. We believe quality always comes before quantity, which is why we intentionally keep our program small so each puppy receives the care they deserve. Our puppies are raised in a clean, nurturing environment and introduced early to everyday household sights, sounds, and experiences.
Southern Sage Dachshund puppies are individually priced beginning at $2,500. Pricing may vary based on pedigree, color and pattern, lineage, and other individual characteristics. Our puppies are raised in our home and thoughtfully bred with an emphasis on health, temperament, structure, and preservation of the longhaired miniature Dachshund.Your puppy’s purchase price includes AKC limited registration, age-appropriate veterinary care and vaccinations, deworming, microchip, health records, our puppy contract and health guarantee, puppy go-home package, and lifetime breeder support. Our puppy pricing reflects the investment that goes into thoughtfully planning, raising, and preparing each litter, including health and genetic testing of our breeding dogs, veterinary care, quality nutrition, early socialization and enrichment, registration and continued breeder support.A $500 reservation deposit is required once a puppy has been selected and offered to an approved family. The deposit is applied toward the puppy’s total purchase price.Breeding rights are not included in companion pricing. Full AKC registration may be considered for select puppies and approved breeding programs on an individual basis.
Our upcoming pairings and anticipated litters are posted on our Planned Litters page and announced through our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) and the GoodDog. Please follow our GoodDog and social profiles to stay up-to-date on current/upcoming litters. Because health and well-being of our dogs always comes first, all breeding plans are tentative and may change based on maturity, health testing, timing, reproductive health, and our final evaluation on each prospective pairing.
Southern Sage puppies are primarily placed as cherished companions. Breeding rights are not automatically included.Full AKC registration and breeding/show prospects may be considered selectively for established, responsible breeding programs whose goals, health-testing practices, ethics, and standards align with ours.Approval is at the discretion of Southern Sage Dachshunds and may involve additional requirements, cost, and contractual terms.
Health is an important part of our breeding decisions. Our breeding dogs receive health and genetic testing appropriate to the Dachshund breed and their individual pedigrees before being included in our program.Because no health-testing program can guarantee that a dog will never develop a health condition, we believe in being transparent about both value and limitations of genetic health testing.Specific testing information for individual Southern Sage dogs will be available on their profiles as testing is completed.
Because Southern Sage is an in-home breeding program rather than a commercial kennel, visits are not allowed. The health, safety, and privacy of our dogs, puppies, and family are our priority. We do not offer unscheduled visits or public access to our home. We are happy to provide approved families with photos, videos, Facetime, updates, and other opportunities to follow their puppy's development.
